Independence Disclaimer

Although Fulbright Prism seeks to collaborate with the official Fulbright Program, it was founded by and for LGBTQ Fulbrighters. We are a wholly independent not-for-profit organization. Our views, policies, and endeavors are solely our own and we do not speak for, make policy for, answer to, or otherwise represent the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, the Institute of International Education, the United States Department of State, the Fulbright Association (also known as the Fulbright Alumni Association), any other Fulbright Program-related commissions, boards, or offices, or any other Fulbright Program alumni organization or corporation.

Confidentiality Statement

We take confidentiality and privacy very seriously. Please know that any information you provide us, through this website or otherwise, will be kept strictly confidential. We will not share information about your sexual orientation or gender identity with third parties without your explicit consent.

If you live in a country where you believe your internet communications are being monitored and/or you may be put at risk of adverse action by communicating with us, do not provide self-incriminating information. Never provide us information that may put you or your wellbeing at risk.

From time to time, we may use the name, email, and/or social media handles you provide us in forms, email, or social media direct messaging to contact you in the future about engagement opportunities. This information may be uploaded to our third party email service, MailChimp. You can always unsubscribe or update your preferences by emailing us or following the links in the email.

Nondiscrimination Policy

The directors, officers, committee members, and employees of, and persons served by, Fulbright Prism shall be selected entirely on a nondiscriminatory basis with respect to age, sex, color, national origin, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, creed, religion, ancestry, marital status, physical ability, veteran’s status, or political service or affiliation. It is the policy of Fulbright Prism not to discriminate on the basis of the aforementioned characteristics.

Inclusion Statement

Identity is a broad and complex concept that can be very fluid or indeterminate, and hardly ever easy to describe. The language we use in our marketing and communications is carefully considered in an effort to be as inclusive as possible and capture as many varieties of identity as possibly relevant to our purposes. It is never our intention to overlook or exclude someone. If you have feedback or comments related to the language used, please feel free to contact us.

Diplomacy Policy

Fulbright Prism shall seek amicable and mutually beneficial relationships with people and organizations around the world regardless of nationality or origin. Concurrently, Fulbright Prism shall not tolerate injustice or discrimination towards LGBTQ persons and shall reserve the right to disclose evidence of these actions in its communications and programming when, in its judgement, such disclosure would protect or improve the experiences of LGBTQ Fulbrighters and further the mission of Fulbright Prism. Injustice and discrimination may include, but are not limited to, action that restricts LGBTQ persons’ access to resources as compared to the general population, unduly burdens LGBTQ persons as compared to the general population, or stigmatizes or targets persons because they are LGBTQ.
