Using pronouns in Dutch
There is no agreed upon non-gendered/nonbinary pronoun in Dutch. Recently, the use of 'die' (individual pronoun) and 'hun' (possessive pronoun) has become popular as a singular nonbinary pronoun. They pronouns (ze) in Dutch are the same pronoun as she pronouns (zij/ze), meaning that using a singular they pronoun as a nonbinary option could result in the accidental female gendering of an individual. Instead, ask what Dutch pronouns an individual uses for themself.
